EXPERIENCE
Modern Free Press, Photojournalist
2017 –
I am currently writing and photographing events for the Modern Free Press, where I have been since 2017.
The Montreal Times, Photojournalist
2011 – 2017
I began at the Times newspaper when it was called the West End Times. Originally, I wrote a weekly column about upcoming concerts in the Montreal area and interviewed many international recording artists for its pages. I covered everything from music, news events and sports and entertainment. Often a one-man team, writing the stories as well as capturing the images that accompany them. The newspaper had two issues a week and could be found for free around the city of Montreal.
The Scene Magazine, Editor & Journalist
2005 – 2011
A Toronto-based online publication, I was the editor and lead of the Montreal sector of the publication. Covering mainly music and entertainment, I was responsible for a small team of photographers and journalists and for dealing with media accreditations for them and myself.
Heads Magazine, Journalist
2003 – 2005
My first paid job as a journalist – writing about video games for a marijuana magazine that was Canada’s answer to High Times magazine. At the time, this publication was available in many bookstores and convenience stores across the nation.
Prior to this, I cut my teeth on various DIY fanzines and xerox magazines, writing about local bands and concerts. Something I began to do, as a hobby, while still in high school.
EDUCATION
Dawson College, Commercial Photography
2012 – 2014
I studied Commercial Photography at Dawson college to improve my camera skills and obtain a better understanding of the artform. By this time, my photography had surpassed my love for the written word and was becoming my main area of journalistic interest. This school helped me understand who I was and who I wanted to become. Helped hone my studio work and introduced me to areas of the discipline that I might not otherwise have explored. It was here that I really began to understand editing software, primarily the Adobe suite.
